My internship with Senator Mark Daly greatly augmented my year spent studying in Dublin. As an intern, I maintained constituency information to establish a truly innovative mobile phone database system. I also wrote a proposal for the improvement and implementation of an Active Citizenship course in Secondary schools, with the radical suggestion that the subject be part of the Leaving Certificate. I was able to attend the annual Ard Fheis, during which I got an even more in-depth view into Irish Politics.
Working with Senator Daly was a truly unique and valuable opportunity that greatly added to my time spent in Dublin. I learned about Irish politics by not only witnessing it first hand, but also actively participating in it.
