Day 27 the lakes of Lillarney from Ladies View on the way home to Kenmare.
Day 26 in Abbeyfeale Limerick where I lived and went to school until I was 5, before moving to Kenmare. The Statue of Fr Casey who fought for the right of tenant farmers to own their own land.
Day 25 Tipperary looking across at the Glen of Aherlow south of Tipperary town. Day 24 Tipperary effective use of a gable wall to advertise the pub. Unfortunately no time to drop in for a drink.
Day 23 County Offaly the sun setting in the west as seen at 60 miles per hour, (I was not driving at the time the photo was taken).
Day 23 County Laoise and the Statue of James Fintan Lawlor one of the foremost writers and patriots of his time.
Day 22 Satellite Navigation error in Offaly sent me over the Slieve Bloom mountains when I was trying to get to a meeting in Laoise. Sat nav can save a lot of time but from time to time it can lead to some interesting routes. Day 21 Tipperary heading into Offaly and the ancestral home of President Obama, when he come and visits Ireland in May. Day 20 Wexford for a second time passing by the road to the Kennedy Homestead where John F Kennedys Grandfather left to go to Boston. Day 19 Kilkenny Castle in the Marble City, the principal Irish residence of the powerful Butler family for almost 600 years.
Day 18 in County Carlow by a long way the county with the most distinctive Gaelic Football and Hurling jersey.
Day 17 County Wexford near the historic Boolavogue where Father Murphy started the 1798 rebellion. At its climax nearly 10,000 rebels were on the Field of Battle on Vinegar Hill. Day 16 County Roscommon Memorial to the volunteers of the IRA who fought the British Army during the War of Independence 1919 to 1921. Day 15 Westmeath at the monument to The Slasher, Myles O'Reilly who took on General Monroe in 1646 on the Bridge in Fina. Prince Albert of Monaco being canvassed for a vote in the Senate Election during his visit to the Dail and Senate. We actually talked about his mothers Princess Kellys visiting Kenmare during her state visit to Ireland in 1961.
Day 14: Slane Castle Co Meath. Ireland's most famous concert venue. Day 13 County Louth the the smallest county in Ireland by area, Near the Border with the North of Ireland.
Day 12 County Meath passing by a host of golden daffodils, not even time to smell the scent. Day 11 the sign for the Harry Blaney bridge, I was honoured to be at the official opening of it by the former Tasoiseach.
Day 10 heading for Malin Head in Donegal the most Northerly point in Ireland. A long, long way from county Kerry. Day 9 Sligo under Ben Bulben eye from Drumcliff resting place of WB Yeats "cast a cold eye on life on death horseman pass by". Day 8 Senate Campaign in Mayo with Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick in the background.
Day 7 Senate Campaign County Mayo: The Quiet Man - one of my favourite movies of all time - was filmed in Cong.
