72 Full Time Jobs in Valentia Hindered By Red Tape

Senator Mark Daly has recently published a report highlighting the delay of economic development in Valentia, Co. Kerry due to red tape. Senator Daly stated ‘The delay of this development is not due to economic difficulties, it is simply caused by an overly bureaucratic system. Red tape has stopped the creation of 72 jobs in the area.’.

'The new initiatives proposed by the local community are diverse and progressive and if introduced would generate more employment, provide more services and increase prosperity in Valentia. The new initiatives include;

- The development of Valentia marina which has the potential to create 35 jobs in the area

- The extension of the local boat yard which has the potential to create 20 jobs

- The renovation and development of The Royal Hotel which could produce 15 jobs

- The development of an Art gallery which could create 2 extra jobs

- The building of a retail unit could create 2 jobs

- The construction of seaweed baths, which would provide an attractive recreational facility in the area.

Senator Daly stated ‘These initiatives are of extreme importance because they will boost the local economy at a time where development should be encouraged rather then hindered.’
