TWO KERRY SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE FUNDING FOR COMPUTERS – DALY

Two Kerry national schools are to receive funding under the Government’s programme of grants for computer and communications equipment, according to Senator Mark Daly.  In total €20,000 is being provided to the Kerry schools under the scheme which will be used to buy computers, software and digital equipment.

The Kerry schools who will receive funding under the programme are Scoil Eoin in Sneem and Coolick National School in Killarney.

“I’m delighted that this funding is being made available,” said Senator Daly.  “It is more important than ever children begin to get familiar with computers and digital technology from an early age.  In the years to come technology will impact on our daily lives more and more.  We need to ensure that children are comfortable with technology and have regular access to it as much as possible.”

“I think the schools in question will greatly benefit from the funding that is being provided.  The money will be transferred to the schools’ accounts over the next week or two and they will then receive email documentation and guidelines on how to go about procuring the equipment.  Hopefully we will see these new facilities in place very shortly,” Senator Daly concluded.
