Wednesday 30 August: Cork boarding school sex abuse claims: HSE launches probe – Irish Independent The allegations related to Colaiste an Chroi Naofa in Carraig Na Bhfear, Co Cork, in the 1980s and early 1990s and were highlighted in the Seanad by Senator Mark Daly under parliamentary privilege. HSE and gardaí investigate abuse allegations at Co Cork boarding school – thejournal.ieLate last month, Senator Mark Daly used parliamentary privilege to name a priest and former teacher at the school against whom several allegations were made to gardaí. The complaints were made, the senator said, between 1985 and 2008. Following Daly’s Seanad address, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart issued a statement saying it was “in full compliance with all the necessary guidelines” regarding child protection.
