Kenmare Hospital Tenders are IN The tenders for the new 40 bedroom hospital in Kenmare were delivered before the 12 noon deadline on Tuesday the 21st of September by the 4 contractors to the Assistant National Director Capital of the HSE, John Browner in Dublin. The 4 contractors: JJ Rattigan; Glenbeigh Construction; BAM Contractors; and Western Buildings were originally due to return the tenders on the 7th of September. Due to a number of requests from some of the contractors, the deadline for the return of completed tender documents was extended by two weeks. The 4 tenders are now being assessed by the HSE project team, including John Browner. Mr Browner has told me that the HSE expects to be back to me with the name of the winning contractor within two weeks. It may be necessary to ask questions of the contractors relating to their bids during the fortnight evaluation process by the HSE contract team. Once the winning contractor is chosen the 3 unsuccessful contractors will be entitled to query the awarding of the contract. However, from my discussions with all 4 contractors I am hopeful that they will not challenge the result. I have emphasised to them all the importance of this Hospital to the entire community and that further delay would be unacceptable.
