Senator Mark Daly Announces Binding Agreement to Build Kenmare Hospital and Planning Permission is to be Lodged on the 20th of December. "We were hoping to have a contract in place prior to budget day but time did not allow" said Senator Daly. However, the HSE Estates have issued a letter of acceptance to the contractor, Glenbeigh Construction. A letter of acceptance has a binding legal effect similar to a contract . Therefore, "36 years after first being announced and after four decades of campaigning by the Friends of Kenmare Hospital Action Group, I am delighted that Kenmare is finally to get a new 40 bed Hospital." Since receipt of the Taoiseach's letter on the 8th of December 2009, Senator Daly has worked with the HSE to ensure that tenders were drawn up, returned and a winning contractor announced. Following the issuing of a letter of intent to the successful company Glenbeigh Construction, on the 3rd of November, Senator Daly continued his efforts to assist the HSE and the contractor to ensure that this time a legally binding agreement is in place. Today sees the culmination of this work.
