Senator Mark Daly Welcomes the Official Green Light for Kenmare Hospital Print E-mail

Senator Mark Daly, who previously assured Radio Kerry and the Kenmare News that Kenmare Hospital would go ahead due to legally binding agreements he helped to negotiate between the HSE and Glenbeigh Construction, welcomes the official green light for the construction of the new Kenmare Hospital by Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly, TD. Fears had mounted in recent weeks due to rumours that the Hospital development would be postponed until 2014.

“It was an anxious time for a lot of people. I am glad that the Minister has given the official go ahead, so that people can now rest assured that the Hospital will in fact go ahead”.

“As I indicated last week, Glenbeigh Construction aim to be on site and begin construction in July. It will be a 70 week building programme and will see the project built by Autumn 2012.”

Senator Mark Daly wishes to praise the efforts, in particular, of Una O’Neill, Michael Harrington, Richard Doran, Mary Fitzgerald, Maeve O’Sullivan, Mairéad Doyle, Bertie McSwiney, and all the Doctors in the area and the many others who have supported this campaign over the years.

“Their commitment over 36 years has ensured that we will get our new hospital, a vital resource for Kenmare and wider Kerry community. Their campaign started in 1975 when I was only 2 and I am glad that I am able to play my part as a Public Representative to ensure that the hospital proceeds on this occasion".
