Diageo pride itself on the Guinness legacy; a legacy built on developing a sustainable business that also gives back to the community. With this ethos in mind, they introduce the Arthur Guinness Fund, an initiative which has been making a significant and transformational impact on local communities across Ireland.

The Arthur Guinness Fund was launched in 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of Guinness, with Diageo committing €2.5 million to the fund to support social entrepreneurs. A social entrepreneur is someone who has a business head and a social heart .They use the skills, drive and passion for business to deliver transformational changes to the lives of others in their community.

So far, the Arthur Guinness Fund has supported 20 social entrepreneurs in funding and business mentoring. In fact, the success stories of the Arthur Guiness Fund have been showcased in a recent Irish Times supplement on Thursday, September 8th.

Diageo will soon be inviting applications for support from the Arthur Guinness Fund for 2012. This year, Diageo is pledging up to €500,000 additional funding to the Arthur Guinness Fund as part of our commemoration of Arthur’s Day, with all ticket proceeds from the music events taking place on September 22nd also being donated to the fund.

Full details on the application process for the Arthur Guinness Fund can be viewed on www.guinness.com.

The Arthur Guinness Fund has made a real and positive contribution to a diverse range of projects across Ireland, supporting 20 social entrepreneurs since it launched in 2009, and Diageo look forward to continuing their support in 2012.
